Tiny Trak 4, APRS and a new iGate at M3NQG..
I have always been interested in amateur radio, but had been deterred from gaining my licence by the exams required. In early 2002 I was speaking to a friend of mine, who explained about the Foundation Licence, this certainly rekindled my interest. Searching the Web I found my local radio club the Stevenage and District Amateur Radio Society and signed up for the Foundation Course
Operated GB6CW from Cromer Windmill as part of Mills On The Air..
A couple of months back I purchased a Kenwood TM-241E in need of repair..
PowerPoint Slides and links from my Toroid Talk at SADARS..
Having built a simple Crystal Set and a Super
Regenerative receiver I was keen to experiment with a
Direct Conversion receiver..
Well it isn't too difficult to take apart you just have to..
Various projects could use a Microcontroller.. How long could it be resisted?
The results are in, 6th out of 7 in the QRP category, perhaps I should have entered in the restricted category, as I lacked a 60ft tower and Yagi!
A little trek to the Crystal Palace Radio Club traditional Rally. I found a few interesting bits including a Trio TS-510 complete with PSU..
The kit is neatly packed in a number of paper bags one for each module..
I ordered the basic replacement chip set, incase any other chips had gone, this seemed like a good plan! a couple of days later it arrived.
I decided to start with a handheld. Following extensive reading on the web (A very useful site was www.eham.net). I purchased a Kenwood TH-F7E.
The M3BBZ call was a great start. But what I really wanted was to build, and have the potential to operate abroad, a full licence was the only way ahead. So I started to study for the RAE
Passed the RAE and now have my new call - M1HOG
Nicolas Pike.
